Factory workers wreaked havoc and caused violence at an iPhone manufacturing centre in the outskirts of Bengaluru allegedly over the employees’ calls for better working hours and clearance of due payments.

Now, iPhone will probe its Taiwanese contractor Wistron Corp for possibly defying supplier rules that possibly led to this situation, Hindustan Times reports.


149 people have been arrested over this violence by the police as recorded videos from the interiors of the factory display some men using sticks to break down security cameras, equipment, windows etc.“Our teams are in close touch with the local authorities and we’re offering our full support to their investigation,” Apple Inc reportedly said in a statement.

The Tim Cook-led company has deployed more staff and auditors at the site. Earlier today, it had emerged that Wistron had assessed a total damage of Rs 437 crore to their properties following this violence.
