Ayodhya Case: Shia Waqf Board Informs SC Of Willingness To Forego One-Third Share Of Land For Construction Of Ram Temple

As part of its submissions in the ongoing Ayodhya title dispute over Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land, the Muslim-body Shia Waqf Board on Friday (30 August) told the Supreme Court that it was ready to give up one-third of the land awarded to it by the Allahabad High Court to Hindus for construction of a temple at the site, reports Financial Express.
The advocate appearing for the Shia Waqf Board, M C Dhingra submitted before the five-judge Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoithat that it was willing to forego the land.
The Supreme Court is presently hearing the much-prolonged case on a day to day basis after the three-member mediation panel appointed by it failed to come up with a solution to the dispute which would have been mutually agreeable to the disputing parties in the high-profile case.
