Social activist Anna Hazare has questioned the Maharashtra government’s orders to open bars and pubs in the state while the temples are still closed. He has even offered his support to devotees if they protest against the state government’s decision.

Hazare has apparently held a meeting with a group of people who are demanding for temples to be opened in the state. He said that the state government looks to be fine with large queues outside liquor shops but continue to keep temples closed at the same time.

The concerned delegation has accordingly been assured of Hazare’s support with respect to this matter. They have been told that the activist will join them if they agitate against the authorities to achieve their concerned objective.

This issue also received the support of state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil who led a ‘shankhnad andolan’ led by party workers in various cities of the state on 30th August to demand the reopening of temples. The workers marched their way to the temples by blowing conch shells during the course of their protest.
