A social worker in Bihar on Wednesday (25 September) offered 'pind daan' - a Hindu ritual to offer prayers to the departed soul for its peace and salvation - for the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the 14 February's dastardly suicide bombing terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.
Chandan Kumar Singh has been continuing this tradition of offering 'pind daan' for the martyrs or those killed in fatal accidents, started by his late father in the year 2001.
Singh offered prayers at Devghat located near the famed Vishnupad Temple in Bihar where Hindus congregate for the ritual.
"My father has followed this tradition for 13 years and after his demise, I am carrying it on," Singh said, adding the rituals are organised by Babu Suresh Narayan Memorial Trust.
