Thermal Power Project in Bihar (NTPC)
Union Minister of Power, R K Singh, and Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, on Saturday (27 November) inaugurated stage -II 500 MW (2x250 MW) of NTPC Barauni Thermal Power Station and Unit - 1 with 660 MW capacity of NTPC Barh Super Thermal Power Project.
NTPC has an installed capacity of 7,970 MW in Bihar, and another 1,980 MW is under construction.
Barh has a total installed capacity of 3,300 MW, out of which 1,320 MW is already under commercial operation since March 2016.
“As part of its CSR initiatives, NTPC has taken up many Community Development activities in Bihar. These activities are primarily focussed in the area of Education, Health, Infrastructure development, drinking water, sanitation, etc,” the official statement said.
“Further, various community development activities are at different stages of implementation in neighbouring villages of its projects. NTPC is also setting up a special burn unit at AIIMS Patna and constructing ITI in the Aurangabad district,” it added.
NTPC, including subsidiaries, presently has an installed capacity of 67,907 MW and plans to become a 130 GW company by 2032.
