The High Court bench ruled that no case was made out for "exercising extraordinary jurisdiction" and Arnab has an alternative remedy of a regular bail. The court added that the accused in the matter can approach the sessions court, which in-turn will decide the application within four days.

"Rejection of interim application shall not be construed as an impediment to the petitioner seeking alternate remedies. Observations are prima facie in nature confined to the present application only", Justice Shinde has been quoted as saying.

Arnab was arrested on 4 November by a team of Raigad Police in connection with the abetment to suicide case which was earlier closed by the cops. Arnab has alleged that he has been assaulted by the cops in custody and was also not allowed to speak to his lawyers. He was subsequently shifted to the Taloja Jail.

Following his arrest Arnab claimed that his life is in danger and action against against him has been dubbed by many as vendetta by the Shiv Sena led Maharashtra government.
