Union Minister for Home Affairs (MHA) Amit Shah on Monday (16 December) urged the students protesting against the new amendments to the Citizenship Act to study the same, underscoring that the amended law does not hold any provision to take away the citizenship of anyone, reports Asian News International (ANI).

Speaking at a public rally at Poreyahat in Jharkhand, Shah lashed out at political rivals Indian National Congress (INC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Trinamool Congress (TMC) for “misleading” students, and for spreading an atmosphere of violence in the nation.

The violent protests in Delhi witnessed burning of three buses belonging to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) near Bharat Nagar area, while police entered the campus of JMI and fired tear gas shells to counter stone pelting attacks from the protestors.
