The Indian Army has handed over the case concerning malpractices in officers’ selections at its Punjab centre to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The Service Selection Centre (SSC) is under scrutiny for irregularities with regards to candidate selection at the Kapurthala district in Punjab.

The case was detected during an operation of military intelligence and the CBI will be investigating it in detail now.

Officials from the Indian Army informed the ANI that they maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and any sort of misconduct in their recruitment process.

“Based on a proactive operation by Army intelligence agencies, a case of possible malpractice in selection procedures at a centre has come to light. Since the scope of investigation involves multiple agencies including civil entities, the Indian Army has decided to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation,” they further told the wire agency.
