In a serious escalation in the Left-wing extremism (LWE) hit regions, the Maosists are believed to have acquired the ability to conduct aerial surveillance to keep a track of the movement of the forces, reports Indian Express.
The forces are said to have noticed drones flying over the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camps in Kistaram and Palodi in South Bastar region of Chhattisgarh several times over the past one month alone.
Following the development, the top brass of the CRPF has issued directives to shoot down such drones. Meanwhile, it should be noted that the security forces deployed in the region have also been making use of drones to maintain vigil against the movement of Maoist cadres in the jungles of affected states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha.
