The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) extensively planned the Galwan Valley attack against Indian Army personnel which included using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to spy on Indian positions, The Hindu has reported.

As per the report, the Chinese were planning the attack for at least two days. Their plan included blocking the rivulets flowing in the area and then releasing the water in full flow when Indian troops arrived at the scene.

China is also said to have spied on the Indian positions using UAVs to determine the number of Indian soldiers present at the site and subsequently bolstered their own numbers.

Despite the surprise attack the Indian Army bravely fought back and inflicted over 40 casualties on the Chinese side. US intelligence reports have claimed that 35 of the Chinese troops including the Commanding Officer may have died.
