Chinese authorities have been removing Arab style domes, Islamic decorations and Arabic scripts from mosques across the country as evident from the transformation of the main mosque in Yinchuan - the capital of Ningxia province, The Telegraph has reported.

As per the report, in case of the Yinchuan mosque, the Chinese authorities had pulled down the characteristic dome, golden Islamic-style filigree, decorative arches, and Arabic script which adorned the structure. The mosque has been subsequently converted into a grey rectangular facility.

The report adds that visitors are also not being allowed to enter the mosque.

It was recently reported that China built a public toilet on the site of a mosque after demolishing it in Xinjiang province and also ordered forcible abortions of pregnant women as part of a campaign against the Uyghur Muslims.

A public toilet was been erected on the site of the demolished Tokul mosque in Suntagh village of Atush city. The toilet was likely built to cover up the ruins of the destroyed Tokul mosque, as well as for the needs of inspecting groups or cadres visiting the area.
