Commercial Flights Suspended In Several North Indian Airports; Pakistan Stops Flight Operations In Punjab Province

Following reports of aircraft belonging to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) crossing the Line-of-Control (LoC) on to the Indian side, all commercial flights to multiple airports in North India have been suspended, reports The Economic Times. Similarly, Pakistan has stopped all commercial operations of airlines from its airports in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Islamabad, reports ANI.

The affected airports in India are at Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Dharamshala; flights have been suspended till further notice.

The directive is a government one which has been issued, not a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM).

F-16s belonging to the PAF reportedly entered into Indian airspace after crossing the LoC, in what is believed to be a response to a strike by the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Jaish-e-Mohammed’s (JeM) terror camp in Balakot, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

One of the Pakistani aircraft is believed to have been shot down, crashing down in the Lam Valley in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK).
