Nations such as Seychelles, Mangolia and Bahrain that depended upon Chinese Covid-19 vaccines to curb the pandemic are dealing with a fresh wave of infections.

These countries along with Chile had vaccinated around 50 per cent-68 per cent of its total population and are yet listed amongst the top 10 countries with worst outbreaks of the pandemic, a report from the New York Times mentions.

Similarly, the publication put into light the fact that UAE and Bahrain, amongst the first countries to approve the Sinopharm vaccine, have reported of a significant chunk of people falling ill after inoculation.

China’s Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines have reported an efficacy rate of 78 per cent and 51 per cent respectively but the NYT report claimed that examples of multiple countries show that these shots might be ineffective in curbing the spread of the virus and its new variants.

For instance, Mangolia was swift in laying out its vaccination program and even inoculated 52 per cent of its population with Chinese vaccines.

Yet, it recorded around 2400 new cases on Sunday, which is an almost four times increase from the number of infections that the country was recording a month ago.
