The daily toll collections of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) through electronic toll collection system FASTag has reached a record high of about Rs 104 crore, with the collections rising consistently since 16 February when user fee payments at toll plazas were mandated to be executed through the FASTag, reports Economic Times.

During this week, toll collection surpassed Rs 100 crore mark each day and touched the lifetime high of Rs 103.94 crore on 25 February with over 64.5 lakh transactions.

It should also be noted that over the last two weeks alone, approximately 20 lakh new FASTag users have been added, taking the total number of FASTag users to 2.8 crore.

In the statement, NHAI said that the growing adoption of FASTags by highway users will help to bring more efficiency in toll operations. It also added that this would enable the correct valuation of road asset in the future and will encourage more investors to invest in the Highway infrastructure of the country.
