DBT Volume Rises 37 Per Cent To 3.9 Lakh Crore Transactions So Far This Year, Says UIDAI Chief

The volume of direct benefit transfers (DBT) has jumped 37 per cent to 3.9 lakh crore transactions so far this year from 2.8 lakh crore transactions in 2020, reports The Economic Times.

The development was shared by UIDAI chief executive Saurabh Garg who was speaking at an event organised by The Economic Times. Also attending the event, Union Minister Hardip Singh Puri further shared that the amount of money the Centre transferred as part of the DBT scheme this year stood at Rs 68,903 crore.


The DBT based cash transfers include pensions, fertiliser subsidies, the now discontinued LPG subsidy, COVID-related cash help from the Centre and a host of other schemes under the Centre and state administrations. It is being used extensively to help plug the leakages in the subsidy system.
