A new COVID-19 is being setup in New Delhi at a Radha Soami Satsang Beas complex in Chattarpur which will have the capacity of accommodating over 10,200 patients, Hindustan Times reported.

According to a senior official quoted by HT, the facility that is going to be operational in a week's time would be 10 times larger than the widely-reported Chinese COVID-19 facility of 1,000. A video of the Chinese facility being constructed had been shared on internet in February this year and the development had received appreciation in the media back then.

“This would be 10 times bigger than the field facility for Covid patients that was temporarily set up in China’s Leishenshan to accommodate 1,000 patients,” said the official.

The report said Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) medical professionals to run the biggest facility in the country, which is said to of the size of 15 football fields.

The deadline for officials to begin operations at the facility with first 2,000 beds has been given for Thursday next week, the report said, while the remaining 8,200 beds are expected to be available by 3 July.
