Taking forward the task of deploying high-speed free WiFi facility for passengers at all the stations under the Indian Railways, the mini-ratna public sector undertaking (PSU) RaitTel has now successfully installed the facility at 5,000 railway stations across the country, reports Asian News International (ANI).

Midnapore in West Bengal became the 5,000th station to have been made capable of offering the service called RailWire to passengers and others using its space. The announcement about the same was made by Union Minister for Railways, Piyush Goyal on his official Twitter account.

For the initiative, RailTel has a technology partnership with Google. Also, for providing the service at B, C, D and E category stations pan-India, the PSU had roped in Tata Trust and is now working at a breakneck pace to ensure that the service is activated at all stations (except halt stations) at the earliest.
