Film producers or enthusiast willing to undertake film shooting either using toy trains or a railway premises in Darjeeling Himalayan Railway can now apply online without coming to the site physically.

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda said that film producers hailing from different parts of the country are often unaware of the necessary procedures to conduct shooting in the Darjeeling toy train.

In fact, production house officials used to visit Guwahati twice or thrice prior to proceeding to Darjeeling for shooting. Such was the hassle that they even had to reschedule their pre-fixed shooting programs on occasions.

“In order to mitigate the issue, Northeast Frontier Railway has now provided a link in their official website,” Chanda confirmed to the Economic Times.

The officer further explained that the applicants will have to upload the scanned copies of the required documents on the dashboard and their applications will be processed online as well.

Producers can also deposit the necessary fees online, which will result in saving the processing time and ensuring further transparency and ease of doing business with the Railways.

Several iconic Bollywood films such as China Town (1962), Aradhana (1969), Barfi (2012) amongst others have been shot in this site over the years.
