Led by Union Minister Ramesh Pokhryal, the Ministry of Education has drawn up a 60-point action plan for transforming the school education landscape in the nation as delineated in the recently notified National Education Policy, 2020, reports Economic Times.

The 60-point action plan has been constructed by the Ministry to get the policy's outcomes in force by 2022-23 academic session.

The Ministry has tasked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to set up a committee which would review all the entrance examinations for admissions to higher education institutions (HEIs), and design an optional standard examination exam, which would be voluntary for the HEIs to undertake.

Further, the Ministry has tasked NCERT to develop a three-months-long play-based school preparation module for grade-1 students to prepare them for the school education. NCERT has also been tasked with the job of finetuning learning outcomes for all classes, to arrest the decline in learning levels.

The Ministry has taken these and several more decisions as a part of the extensive 60-point action plan, the work on which is beginning with immediate effect.
