After launching a massive exercise to identify the individuals who had attended the Tablighi jamaat congregation in New Delhi's Nizamuddin area, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police on Tuesday (31 March) picked up eight Indonesian nationals in the state's Bijnor district, reports Times of India.
The eight Indonesians were staying at Jamunwali mosque in Bijnor’s Nagina town. They have been quarantined at the isolation ward of the district hospital after being subjected to a medical examination.
The case has been registered against two clerics and three other members of the mosque for not informing the authorities about the stay of foreigners who had come to India on a tourist visa but were engaged in religious activities.
The eight Indonesians had arrived in India on a six-month tourist visa and visited Odisha and Delhi. They attended the Tablighi congregation at Nizamuddin in Delhi between 13-15 March and thereafter reached Bijnor on 21 March.
