SP Kuchh-East Mayur Patil
In the video statement, the SP while speaking from inside the Tanishq store said that the reports of the showroom being either attacked, vandalised, ransacked or being at the receiving end of a riot are all fake news which are being spread as part of a propaganda. He thus appealed to people to not fall prey to such rumours.
As per Desh Gujarat, the store had earlier pasted a note on its doors apologising to the Hindu community in Kuchh for the controversial advertisement.
"We apologise to Hindu community of Kutch on the shameful advertisement of Tanishq", read the note in Gujarati. It has since been removed by the cops.
ANI has quoted the SP as saying that the apology note was pasted on the store following demands by a duo who had visited the showroom. He added that the owner of the store was getting threat calls from Kuchh but the reports of the store being attacked are false.
The official handle of NDTV also put out a tweet saying “Breaking news: Tanishq store attacked in Gandhidham, manager forced to write apology note amid row over ad”.
A Twitter user replied to this tweet with an audio recording with the store manager, saying “this is fake news”. In the audio, the purported store manager of the store is telling the user that no attack on his store has happened.
