The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), the umbrella body of farmers' unions, has announced the suspension of the year-long agitation against recently repealed farm laws.
Darshan Pal Singh, another farmer leader, said that the protesting farmers will vacate the protest sites on 11 December.
The development comes after the Centre on Tuesday (7 December) had sent a detailed draft to the SKM's five-member committee after factoring in their feedback.
The farmers' union accepted the government's proposal addressing their pending demands on Wednesday (8 December), reports India Today.
Earlier last month, PM Modi had announced the repeal of the three farm-laws that were passed last year.
Following PM Modi's announcement, the government passed a bill in the Parliament's current session to repeal the farm laws. Following the Presidential assent to the repeal bill, the three farm laws were scrapped.
