Technology giant Google has introduced a new feature called 'Nearby Spot' under its Google Pay platform, enabling the users to search for the local stores selling essential items such as groceries which are operational amid the lockdown, reports Economic Times.

The application currently serves Google users in Bengaluru. However, Google is planning to launch it soon in Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Delhi.

Meanwhile, Google India had last week also launched a Covid-19 website which collates updated information as well as live statistics on a single page, enabling easy access to reliable information. The website presently supports English, Hindi and Marathi on smartphones, and is set to be rolled in more vernacular Indian languages soon.
