Nirmala Sitharaman
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said in her budget speech that the Narendra Modi-led government at the centre aims to establish 100 new Sainik schools across India in order to boost quality education.
She announced that the Sainik schools will be established in collaboration and partnership with Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), private schools and state governments.
One of the most exciting announcements in the area of education has come from Sitharaman in her budget speech and marks a great beginning and leap for Ladakh. She has announced that a new central university will be established in Leh, the capital of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The announcement is in harmony with the needs for quality education in Ladakh. The coming up of a central university for Ladakh will solve a set of problems for the people of Ladakh.
The revoking of Article 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) had made Ladakhis living in and outside Ladakh express the need for improvement in quality education in the new UT.
A central university in Ladakh for Ladakhis will keep their talents, energies and potentials within Ladakh during their youth. It will also boost their own participation in the betterment of education within the UT.
Sainik Schools are well known for imparting values, patriotism, disciplined and high quality education.
The move of establishing 100 more Sainik Schools will strengthen the imparting of values and training given to students who aim for the armed forces, and outside the armed forces, through the different competitive exams.
