On Wednesday (11 January), the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said that the Chennai airport’s new integrated terminal would be commissioned by the end of 2022.

The new integrated terminal handles both domestic and international operations

Rs 2,467 crore project is set to be completed by the end of 2022

The iconic roof is inspired from the curves created by the Bharatanatyam Dancer's attire

According to the press release by the Airports Authority of India, the estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,467 crores. It also includes a multi-level mechanised car park and integration of Metro rail.

Chennai Airport managed by AAI is India’s fourth busiest airport. Airports Authority of India, under the Civil Aviation Ministry, owns and manages more than 100 airports across the country.
