India on Wednesday called out the Organisation on Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for being held hostage by Pakistan and also raising matters related to Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).

Pawan Badhe, first secretary in Indian mission in Geneva, said, “We once again regret and reject the reference made by the OIC to J&K which is an integral part of India. The OIC has no locus standi to comment on internal affairs of India.”

Badhe added, “The OIC has helplessly allowed itself to be held hostage by Pakistan, which holds the chairmanship of their Geneva Chapter, to subserve its own agenda. It's for the members of the OIC to decide if it is in their interest to allow Pakistan to do so.”

The central government maintained that Pakistan had engaged in systematic persecution, sectarian violence, forced conversions, targeted killings and faith-based discriminations against its ethnic and religious minorities.

It also said that the nation has been internationally identified for training, financing and openly supporting even terrorists that have been proscribed by the UN.

The official also stated that Pakistan has failed in protecting the rights of its minorities and that thousands of women and girls from the minority communities had to deal through abductions, conversions and forcible conversions in the country, Times of India reports.
