India Deploys Surface-To-Air Missile Defence Systems In Eastern Ladakh As Chinese Aircrafts Fly Near LAC

India has deployed its advanced quick-reaction surface-to-air missile defence systems in the eastern part of Ladakh amid growing tensions with China at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), news agency ANI reported.

The move has come after several Chinese fighter aircrafts and choppers were detected to be flying in areas close to the LAC.

"As part of the ongoing build-up in the sector, the air defence systems of both Indian Army and the Indian Air Force have been deployed in the sector to prevent any misadventure by the Chinese Air Force fighter jets or the People's Liberation Army choppers there," government sources were quoted as saying by ANI.

India's air defence missile system has the Akash missile, which is capable of blowing off a fast-moving combat jet and drones in seconds. The system has also been modified and upgraded for its deployment in the mountainous region of Ladakh.

According to the report, several Chinese helicopters have been flying near the LAC in the areas where the Indian Army and the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) have been gripped in a face-off. These areas include the Sub Sector North (Daulat Beg Oldie sector), Galwan valley near Patrolling Point 14, Patrolling Point 15, Patrolling Point 17 and 17A (Hot Springs area) along with the Pangong Tso lake and Finger area.
