India Supplies Mobile Harbour Cranes To Iran To Enable Seamless Cargo Handling Services At Chabahar Port

Continuing with its deepening engagement with Iran on the Chabahar deep water port, India has supplied a consignment of two mobile harbour cranes which involve a contract value of $25 million and will enable the port to carry out seamless cargo handling services, reports Livemint.

The two mobile harbour cranes have 140 metric tonne lifting capacity have been supplied to the Chabahar Port under a contract to supply six such cranes in total. These arrived from Italy's Marghera port and were successfully unloaded at Chabahar port on Monday (18 January).


India and Iran had on 23 May 2016 signed a bilateral contract with a total value of $85 million, under which India agreed to equipping, mechanising and starting operations at the port under phase- I. For the same purpose, IPGL was incorporated as a special purpose vehicle in Mumbai, under the Ministry of Shipping.
