India has urged partner countries such as Canada, the UK, and the US to refrain from accommodating the "extremist Khalistani ideology," as it is detrimental to bilateral relations.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasised the importance of not providing space for this ideology during a BJP outreach campaign. He also mentioned that the issue of Khalistani posters in Canada, which targeted Indian diplomats, will be raised with the Canadian government.
A recent controversy has arisen due to the release of a poster in Canada by pro-Khalistan elements.
This development has further intensified tensions surrounding the Khalistani movement.
Nijjar was fatally shot in the parking lot of a gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, on 18 June.
A rally has been organised for 8 July at the Indian Embassy in Toronto, as stated in a poster.
Canada faced criticism from India recently after a tableau in Brampton allegedly celebrating the assassination of former Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi was shared on social media.
