The Indian Air Force (IAF) is fully prepared for operations and has been carrying out air exercises at forward bases near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, ANI has reported.
Besides air operations, the IAF has also been using its transport aircraft like C-17s, C-130Js and IL-17s to transport troops and equipment to the forward areas.
Also pressed into action are IAF's newly acquired Chinook helicopters which are carrying out regular sorties to transport army and ITBP troops to areas near the LAC.
A Wing Commander involved in the crucial preparedness operations for the IAF has been quoted as saying that, "The Indian Air Force is fully prepared for operations and is ready to meet all challenges. Air power is a very powerful aspect of war-fighting and more relevant today".
The report adds that the unnamed air base visited by its reporting team plays a very strategic role for both combat and air support operations.
Soon after rising tensions with China, the IAF has stepped up its operations near the LAC and as a show of strength deployed its top assets to counter China.
