Indian Coast Guard Commissions All-New Armed Fast Patrol Vessel Built By State-Owned GRSE

In a boost for the Indian Coast Guard's operational capabilities, the force has commissioned the all-new fast patrol vessel built by Government's Mini Ratna undertaking Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE), reports Indian Express.

ICGS Kanaklata Barua was delivered to the force by GRSE on 9 June. the powerful vessel boasts of a fuel-efficient platform and has been designed to perform multi-purpose activities such as patrolling, anti-smuggling, anti-poaching and rescue operations.


The vessel also boasts of a 40/60 gun as its main armament. It also comes with improved habitability features with fully air-conditioned modular accommodation for 35 personnel.

The vessel marked first of five fast patrol boats that GRSE is building for the Indian Coast Guard. Meanwhile, it should also be noted that with this vessel taken into account, GRSE has successfully delivered 105 warships in total.
