India's Power Consumption Surges By 16.5 Per Cent During First 12 Days Of March

In a positive development, the Ministry of Power's data shows that power consumption in the first 12 days of March grew by a whopping 16.5 per cent to 47.67 billion units compared to the same period a year ago, reports Economic Times.

Compared to 47.67 billion units during the first 12 days of March, last year, during the same period, power consumption in the nation stood at 40.92 billion units.


It should also be noted that after a gap of six months, power consumption recorded a 4.6 per cent year-on-year growth in September and 11.6 per cent in October. Thereafter, in November, the power consumption growth slowed to 3.12 per cent, but then again gained momentum and grew by 4.5 per cent and 4.4 per cent in December and January respectively.

Meanwhile, Power consumption in February this year recorded higher at 104.11 billion units compared to 103.81 billion units last year even though 2020 was a leap year.
