Jharkhand: GSI Discovers Gold Reserves Of About 250 Kilograms Near Jamshedpur; Auctions For Mining Soon

In a positive development, the Geological Survey of India (GSI) on Saturday (6 June) announced that it has discovered about 250 kilograms of gold reserves beneath the land surface in Bhitar Dari village in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district, about 20 kilometers fare from the city of Jamshedpur, reports Economic Times.

As per the statement issued by the GSI, the institution had on 3 June itself submitted its final report on the development to the State Government, paving the way for auctioning of gold mines of the area in near future.

In technical parlance, the GSI has revealed in its report that the resource assessment was done through analysis of 709 core samples which augmented 3,40,354.7 tonnes of gold ore with an average grade of 0.71 g/t with 0.4 g/t cut off and a total of 55196 tonnes of ore with an average grade of 1 g/t with 1 g/t cut off.

The process to explore the gold mining in the area began in 2013-14 when senior geologists from GSI had begun carrying out the survey, mapping and sampling in the area. Later on, the drilling activity had begun in the region in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
