The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration on Tuesday (5 May) extended former chief minister (CM) Mehbooba Mufti's detention under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) by another three months, reports Times of India.

The order for the extension of the PSA imposition against Mufti came hours before her present term under the stringent law was set to expire. The order was handed over to Mufti at her residence where she has been detained by the District Magistrate (DM) of Srinagar.

The former J&K CM has been detained ever since the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the erstwhile state into two UTs by the Parliament in August 2019. The PSA was slapped on her on 5 February this year.
