The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration on Tuesday (13 October) night released the former chief minister of the erstwhile state Mehbooba Mufti after a 14-month long detention, reports Economic Times.

Mufti, who is the president of People's Democratic Party (PDP), had been placed under detention after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution on 5-6 August last year.

It should be noted that Mufti was not the only former CM of the erstwhile state who was taken under preventive detention. Her political rivals Omar and Farooq Abdullah had also been taken into detention and released back in March earlier this year after a period of over seven months.
