Delhi Police on Monday (18 November) detained around hundred students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for allegedly showing defiance to the directions of the police during their protest, reports Asian News International (ANI).
Some of the agitating groups in the march for demanding a complete rollback of the fee hike had broken through the barricades set up by the Police forces at the Safdarjung Tomb near Jorbagh, defying the directions of the Delhi Police, upon which the decision to detain the protesters was taken.
It should be noted that to contain the protesters, as many as ten companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) was deployed in Delhi to assist the city's police administration which had also deployed over 800 personnel to ensure the adherence of law and order.
