Work on Rs 3,883 crore Mysuru-Madikeri highway is expected to commence from June 2022.

This project is expected to reduce the travelling time between Bengaluru and Madikeri from around 6 hours to 3.5 hours.

While civil works of this highway project will cost Rs 2,733 crore, the cost of land acquisition is expected to be Rs 1,151 crore.

“The proposed highway will commence from the deviation near Paschimavahini near Srirangapatna and the alignment has been approved in principle by the competent authority,” Mysuru MP Pratap Simha said, reports The Hindu.

On the other hand, the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway is likely to be completed by October 2022 and reduce travel time between the major cities of Karnataka to less than 90 minutes from the current three hours.

The expressway project is being developed under two packages. The first one runs from Bengaluru to Nidaghatta in Maddur taluk, and the second package connects Nidaghatta to Myusuru.

The scope of the work also includes the construction of nine major bridges, 44 minor bridges and four road-over bridges and road under bridges.

Three elevated corridors are being built, including a 5 km section in the outskirts of Bengaluru, a 3 km section in Maddur, and the third one in Srirangapatna.

The 10-lane highway also includes two service roads on either side.
