Kerala Chief Minister Vijayan Meets Cuban President; Cooperation In Healthcare And Sports Discussed

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan met Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel at his office today (15 June) in Havana as part of his official visit to the country.

Canel said that he would visit Kerala during his next official tour of India and his government would discuss cooperation with the state in sectors like public health, biotechnology, cancer care, neurosciences, tropical medicine and sports.

Among the proposals discussed were the setting up of a vaccine manufacturing plant by BioCubaPharma and the creation of a working group consisting of officials from both sides.

Finance Minister KN Balagopal, Health Minister Veena George, John Brittas MP, Planning Commission Vice-Chairperson VK Ramachandran, Chief Secretary VP Joy, OSD External Cooperation Venu Rajamony and Principal Secretary (Health) APM Mohammad Hanif were part of the delegation.
