A man who waved Indian national flag at the pro-Trump protest at the United States Capitol hill has allegedly been identified as Vincent Xavier.
Xavier had allegedly attended the protest at US Capitol, the seat of the United States Congress.
"Dear Shashi Tharoor now that we know that this lunatic was such a dear friend of yours, one can only hope that you and your colleagues were not the silent," Gandhi tweeted.
It should be noted that the Twitter spat between the two MPs started after Varun Gandhi shared a video showing Indian flag in the US capitol protest.
"Why is there an Indian flag there??? This is one fight we definitely don’t need to participate in," Gandhi said in the tweet attached to the video.
"That flag there is a warning to all of us," Tharoor said.
It was after the identity of the Xavier was ascertained that Varun Gandhi lambasted Shashi Tharoor.
However, replying to Varun Gandhi's allegation, Tharoor said he disapprove of it totally. "I denounce any attempt to bring my country's beloved flag into a shameful American mob," he said.
It should be noted that earlier on Wednesday (6 Janury) Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol building and violently clashed with police following a “Stop the Steal” rally in which the President disputed the outcome of the presidential election. At least four people were killed during the violent protest.
The protesters barged their way past police and into the Capitol forcing lawmakers to shelter under desks and the evacuation of congressional leaders to nearby Fort McNair.
The violence delayed for several hours the ratification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.
After hours of combing operations, the cops managed to clear the Capitol building.
