In West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, a part of Rs 7 Lakh collected under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 (MNREGA) was sent to people in Bangladesh.

The district administration has investigated the case and a first information report (FIR) was lodged against Samsul Arfin who made the fake job cards for his relatives including 13 of them who are citizens of Bangladesh, reports Hindustan Times.

However, there has been no progress in the police probe although Calcutta High court rejected the petition moved by Arfin for anticipatory bail.

Nabagram block Congress president Mir Badam Ali said, “Arfin, a TMC leader, embezzled government funds and helped Bangladeshi nationals make money out of a Central government project.”
