Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and Maharshtra CM Uddhav Thackeray
The Modi government has decided to depute two high-level multi-disciplinary teams to Kerala and Maharashtra to collaborate with the state health authorities in instituting public health measures for Covid19 management, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in a statement.
While almost all States and Union Territories are showing a declining trend in the number of cases and deaths due to Covid19, Kerala and Maharashtra continue to report a large number of cases.
At present, these two States ruled by opposition parties represent around 70 per cent of active Covid19 cases in the country.
The Kerala team shall comprise of senior officials from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare along with experts from Regional Office of Health & Family Welfare, Thiruvananthapuram and Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi.
The central teams will work closely with the State Health Departments, take stock of on ground situations and recommend necessary public health interventions to contain the large number of cases being reported by these States.
According to ANI, the total number of active cases in Maharashtra stand at 44,944 and Kerala accounts for 69,456 active cases of Covid19.
