Myanmar's Military Regime Slaps More Charges On Aung San Suu Kyi; Accuses Her Of Bribery And Corruption

The military-led regime in Myanmar has slapped the ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi with charges of violating an anti-corruption law for which she could face a maximum of 15 years in prison, reports Business Standard.

The latest charges come in addition to the four other charges which the military regime had previously filed against Suu Kyi at a court in Naypyidaw, the capital city of Myanmar. The earlier charges were filed under the Export-Import Law, the Natural Disaster Management Law, Telecommunications Law and Incitement under a section of the colonial-era penal code.

The military regime has also accused Suu Kyi of using some funds donated to Daw Khin Kyi Foundation for personal gain, leasing state-owned land for the foundation’s office and purchasing land for a vocational training centre in Naypyidaw at a lower price than the market value.
