Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said that National Highways are growing at an unprecedented pace under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a series of tweets, he said the project, National Highway (NH) 334B, is nearing completion with over 93 per cent progress and is targeted for an early completion by three months in January 2022.

He said the NH-334B, which starts at Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Haryana border near Baghpat and ends at Rohna, will provide seamless connectivity from UP to Rajasthan border via Haryana, ensuring users can bypass Delhi traffic.

It is noteworthy that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, which delayed the development projects across the country, this highway project is slated for early completion.

The union government informed Lok Sabha that construction works on National Highways got delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The loss of time was estimated to be generally in the range of three to nine months, depending upon the project parameters.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that to expedite the construction work and to achieve the targets; the Government has taken several steps like granting time extensions for three to nine months, relaxation in contract provisions for ensuring cash flow, direct payment to sub-contractors and release of retention/security money to augment cash flow and waiver of penalty in case of delay in submission of Performance Security (for new contracts).
