Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya continues to face backlash for his controversial comments over women as he as lost his honorary membership of Khar Gymkhana in Mumbai, the Times of India reports.
During the celebrity chat show, ‘Koffee with Karan’, Hardik Pandya’s comments over women were termed as misogynistic and sexist by many on social media, after which it was reported that Pandya and KL Rahul, who was also present on the show faced a two-match ban based on CoA recommendations.
Pandya then apologised over social media and the duo was issued a show cause notice. Further, the pair was recalled from the tour in Australia and suspended until the probe ended, putting their World Cup hopes in doubt. But the punishment does not seem stop there as now he has reportedly lost his membership in the 1933-established Gymkhana.
Joint secretary of Khar Gymkhana Gaurav Kapadia said that the decision to cancel the 25-year-old’s membership was made during a managing committee meeting on Monday (14 January).
"The three-year honorary membership was given to Hardik Pandya in October 2018. But the club's Managing Committee Monday evening decided to revoke the membership," Gaurav Kapadia said.
