West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
West Bengal Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday (17 December) asserted that to protect the Indian Railways and its properties in the state are not the responsibility of her Government, reports Hindu Businessline.
The assertion by West Bengal CM comes at a time when numerous railway stations and ticket counters in the state have been ransacked, and various trains have been pelted stones at in the name of protests against the parliament's decision to amend the citizenship laws.
Attacking the centre over cancellation of trains, CM Banerjee said, “Just because some trains were set on fire, the centre has stopped railway services in most parts of Bengal. That is not right.”
