Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s package for Jammu and Kashmir, over 30,000 Kashmiri Pandits have applied for around 2,000 re-allocated government jobs, reports The Economic Times.

Provision of 6,000 jobs for youth and provision of 6,000 accommodation units for the recruited employees are the two major components of the prime minister's package for Kashmiri Pandit migrants.

"As regards to the jobs, out of 6,000 posts, 3,841 candidates have already been selected and appointed in various departments. The remaining 2,000-odd posts have been referred to J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB)," a relief and rehabilitation department spokesperson said.

Re-allocation of 3,000 posts for Kashmiri Pandits was announced in 2015. Only 816 recruitments have been made so far whereas the remaining posts are yet to be filled.

The re-allocated posts include posts of Sub Inspector Commercial Taxes and Assistant Compiler in Finance Department (997), Field Assistant, Field Supervisor (Mushroom) and Assistant Store Keeper in Agriculture, Production & Farmers Welfare Department (150), and Depot Assistant in Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department (300), and Class IV in Revenue Department (550).
