Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually participate in the Group of 20 (G20) Extraordinary Leaders’ Summit on Afghanistan today (12 October), reports Hindustan Times.

"At the invitation of the Italian Presidency of the G-20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the upcoming G20 Extraordinary Leaders' Summit on Afghanistan on October 12 in virtual format," said the Ministry Of External Affairs (MEA).

In a statement, the MEA said the agenda of the meeting would include a discussion on response to humanitarian needs and access to basic services and livelihood in the war-torn nation that was taken over by the Taliban in August this year.

Notably, PM Modi had earlier participated in the SCO–CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organisation) outreach summit on Afghanistan last month.
