Rajasthan: Jaisalmer Administration Organises Camp To Help Pak Refugees Complete Formalities For Indian Citizenship

As the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) passed by Parliament got President’s assent and became a law, a camp was organised in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer by district administration on Friday (13 December) to help refugees from Pakistan complete the formalities to avail the citizenship of India, reports Asian News International (ANI).
Organised under the watch of Jaisalmer district's Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Om Prakash Bishnoi, the camp witnessed 15 refugees from Pakistan complete the procedures and formalities necessary to avail the Indian citizenship rights.
The new amendments to the citizenship laws were ratified by the two houses of the Parliament in the just culminated Winter Session, and later notified by President of India Ram Nath Kovind, a few days later.
The amended Citizenship Act was passed with an aim to fast-track the process of the granting citizenship to the persecuted minorities, including Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians, in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
