Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) chief Rakesh Tikait has admitted that he is unaware of the international celebrities supporting the farmers’ agitation but he welcomes their backing too, Financial Express reports.
In recent times, popstar Rihanna, climate activist Greta Thunberg, adult film star Mia Khalifa have propped up the ongoing protests against three farm laws at the borders of the national capital.
15 MPs belonging to 10 opposition parties such as the DMK, TMC and NCP had visited Ghazipur to meet the dissident farmers on Thursday (4 February). However, the Delhi Police personnel stopped them from crossing the barricades that are guarding the protest sites.
“A barricading has been set up here. They had to come, but they should have sat down there itself. They would have been on the other side and we on this side (of the barricades),” Tikait commented on the issue.
