Billionaire Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries Limited (RIL)'s subsidiary Reliance Retail has begun on a major overhaul of its e-commerce application JioMart and gearing to turn it into a super app by integrating multiple consumer offerings from the recently acquired Just Dial, reports Economic Times.
The said app would reportedly serve as a one-stop window for every imaginable need of the consumers. It will also be integrated with WhatsApp, as in the case of the Chinese social e-commerce platform WeChat. Ambani had recently also announced a set of integrations between WhatsApp and JioMart on a trial basis.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that Reliance Retail acquired a majority stake in JustDial earlier last month. It had invested Rs 3,497 crore in the company. Also, it already has a suite of over 20 consumer applications under its umbrella application My Jio.
Over the recent years, RIL's Reliance Retail and Jio Platforms have attracted some of the biggest technology players on the planet as its strategic partners. These include the likes of Facebook and Google. It also has a collaboration with Microsoft.
